Fender has designed a preamp circuit for the American Deluxe Jazz Bass V with an active/passive toggle switch allowing you to choose between a an aggressive and clear active sound or warmer passive tone. The Noiseless N3 single-coil Jazz Bass pickups deliver clear tones with the low-end definition needed to handle the low B-string. When you're not playing, the pickups help to reduce unwanted hum and noise. Tone controls include master volume and treble, middle, and bass boost/cut knobs to help dial in your ideal sound.
Neck Designed for Maximum Playability
The American Deluxe Jazz Bass V features an asymmetrical C-shape neck crafted for players who like to explore the higher reaches of scales. The compound radius fretboard gets wider as your hand travels up the neck, making for high notes that don't buzz and eliminating the need to customize the action just for the upper frets' sake. The lower end of the fretboard has a 9.5" radius for comfortable rhythm playing.
Stay True to the Classics
Though the five strings and updated electronics give this bass a modern feel, the American Deluxe V String Jazz Bass sticks to many of the model's time-honored appointments. Vintage-style Fender tuning keys are a throwback to the Jazz Basses of the past, as are the classic black fretboard inlays. Ash bodies were popular in '50s-era Fenders, and this model's ash construction lends a firm tightness to its low-end sounds.
